OMG. Just wow. This palette is a US exclusive to Violet Voss. I purchased mine through a friend from the States. It is regularly restocked – you need to keep checking back on their Instagram account for a restock date. The first time this palette launched it sold out in a record time of 2 minutes! I was lucky enough to get my hands on this the first time it ever launched, but I have only just got round to reviewing it!
This was a highly anticipated release in the beauty community and there was a lot of hype surrounding it. Is it worth it though? Read on!
It’s a slim sleek palette with a total of 20 mouth watering shades. I don’t use this term ‘mouth watering’ loosely either. These are all shades I wear and love. Each shade is individually named with a quirky social media term and certainly echoes the success that Violet Voss have had over Instagram.
I don’t personally think it’s worth the $52 price tag (more if you include shipping plus taxes) but it is a gorgeous palette to have in your collection and if you buy more than one, it will be worth your while as you can split shipping and customs between friends or fellow makeup addicts.
I really wanted it because these are colours I wear and love. It goes well with my Limecrime Venus palette too and I like to mix colours and use two palettes together to create looks.
Some people are quite ‘irritated’ by the names on the palette, but I think they are fun and quirky. It’s a a good marketing technique.
Let’s take a further look at the palette:
It is travel friendly, fits in perfectly into my palette holder. My only qualm is, that I expected it to be bigger. It looks much bigger on their social media pages. It’s a nice size though and I like the square pans, it gives it a nice finish.
There are different finishes in the Holy Grail – neutrals, mattes and shimmers which is perfect for creating every day or evening glam looks with. I would describe this as a warm pallet for sure. I was salivating when I received it! It’s like every makeup junkies dream! I am very pleased with the pigmentation and the colour pay off. Most of the time I need to spray fix plus onto my brush to enhance colours, but with this palette, I really don’t need to.
First Row, L-R: Brownie Points, Bat My Eyes, Awesome Sauce and Crystal.
Second Row, L-R: Teddy Bear, Cool Beans, Bestie and Ploof.
Third Row, L-R: Glamping, RU Kitten Me, Toffee and Thanks a Latte.
Fourth Row, L-R: Cranberry Splash, So Jelly, Chill and Transition.
Fifth Row, L-R: Wine N Dine, On Fleek, How U Doin and Hashtag.
I find the eye shadows easy to work with, very pigmented and super blendable. There is a whole host of looks you can create using this palette. The ideas are endless. Every time I wear this, I get asked which eyeshadows I am wearing. They are striking and really stand out.
I am enjoying this palette a lot and it has become a staple for me. Just like the name states, it is a ‘holy grail’ palette for me!
If your prepared to pay customs and be patient with delivery, I definitely recommend you buy this. If you don’t like ordering from abroad, and worry about customs charges, then this one is not for you. I will warn you in advance you could be waiting up to 3 weeks for this.
If your a makeup junkie like me and can’t live without every makeup item – this is for you. I know a lot of people may not go out of their way to buy this, but for someone like me, I really wanted to see if this lived up to the hype and it did.
This palette is available on wait list from Cocktail Cosmetics for £42.95. If you would like to get your hands on it directly from America, follow the Violet Voss Instagram page right here and keep checking for updates on the next restock.
Did you get one? Do you love it as much as me?
