Hi Loves!

My brows are something I have struggled with for so many years. This is due to over plucking when I was younger. For the last 3 years I haven’t touched my brows and they just wouldn’t grow. This was both upsetting and annoying for me and left me feeling so low in confidence about my face. I was at the point where I couldn’t leave the house unless I had at least filled my brows in. The eyebrows are the most important feature of the face as they shape your face totally.

Very recently I was introduced to ‘Microblading’ I had heard of this before, but I’ll be honest, I never really paid much attention to it because I wasn’t familiar with this procedure. Then a friend had hers done and when I saw her transformation I was in love. Her brows looked amazing!

I booked myself in with Lauren from Loretta Brows. She is based in Windsor, Berkshire and she did an amazing job with my brows as you can see:

What is Mircroblading?

Microblading is a semi permanent cosmetic procedure which uses a hairstroke technique to give the illusion of fuller brows. It involves using a small blade which deposits pigments into the epidermis.

Why You Need To Try It

If like me, your eyebrows have stopped growing and have lots of gaps – this is for you. I wake up every morning not having to worry about filling them in or grooming them. It is one less thing for me to worry about and I love it! I feel confident again about going out with a bare face. The Microblading technique has reconstructed my brows and covered all the gaps I had which I was very conscious about. Due my brow shape – I had an arch put in to blend in better and I feel like a different person!

Do I Recommend Microblading?

Absolutely! I think everyone should try it if they do not have naturally fuller brows. It is so cost effect and requires minimal maintenance.

What are the Do’s and Don’ts?

Okay, so I couldn’t go to the gym for 10 days after my procedure because the sweat will remove the pigment and ruin all the hard work done. I also couldn’t wear any makeup on my brows for about 2 weeks – but in all honesty, I don’t even need to put any on now. I was also advised not to wet the treated area for 2 weeks, so you just need to be extra careful when cleansing and having a shower.

I think Microblading is a great cost effective way to update your brows. It lasts for up to 2 years, and 1 month after the appointment you need to go back for a top up.

Colour Boost

Here’s how my brows looked after 2 months after colour boost:

The first picture is obviously a before, the second image is after my first microblading treatment, and the final image is how my brows looked after my colour boost appointment. I did leave it a little longer than I should have going back for my colour boost, but this doesn’t affect the brows in any way.

The first treatment took approximately 2 hours and I was given a numbing cream so that I didn’t feel any pain. In all honesty, my first appointment was less painful than my colour boost! I cried halfway through and had panda eyes! The second treatment was by far more painful and I don’t know why. The things we do for beauty! A few common factors as to why one might find microblading super painful is 1) if your on your period, 2) if you have consumed alcohol the day before. I had neither so I’m not quite sure why it hurt so much. I’m just a sensitive Sally! The pain didn’t last long though and my session was over and done with quite quickly. It was TOTALLY worth the half an hour of pain.

Again, after the colour boost, I needed to take careful steps. I couldn’t go to the gym, I had to be careful washing my face and hair. No water is allowed for 10 days on the treated area.

It IS Worth It

I am so happy with my shape and I feel like this was one of the best decisions I’ve made. My brows look and feel so natural! After each appointment I couldn’t stop looking at my face. Goodbye dip brow.

Microblading starts from £200 and you can contact Lauren right here for an appointment. I am really pleased with how she did my brows. She was very thorough and took time to get the shape exactly how I wanted it. She went over my brows about three times, filling in any gaps and getting me to check after each brow was complete. I am very happy with the service I received.

My days of filling my brows in are long gone. Will you take the plunge?

Hi Annie, I have same issue and have heard of micro-blading (a softer version of brow tattooing). So thanks for a great informative post. One question though – how long does the pigment last?

This should last up to 2 years, but you can go back as often as you like for a colour booster. Glad you found it helpful x

Wow, the transformation! I honestly thought it was an elongated before and after like with HD brows, where it takes a while to get the hair and shape back. I feel rather fortunate now I learned my lesson with plucking early on and genetics giving me bushy brows, but this is a brilliant thing for people who struggle!! Brilliant and informative post, I didn’t even know what microblading was! All the best 🙂 x x

Thanks Jamie! I was the same as you, I had no idea what it was before I had the procedure done. But it’s totally changed my eyebrow routine. I hardly touch mine now! It’s been life changing for me and I highly recommend it to anyone who has no brows. Your so lucky to have brows – cherish them! Over plucking them is one thing I sincerely regret xx
