Makeup Revolution are the pioneers of dupes. You can always count on them for affordable alternatives. So, it was inevitable that they would release dupes for Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits. What dupes they are too!
What You Get
- One matte liquid lipstick
- One lip liner
Now, when I heard these were releasing – I was on it straight away. All that money I wasted paying customs charges and waiting weeks on end for my deliveries. I jumped at the chance to own a dupe.
First things first – it was only £6! A small fraction of the price of an actual Kylie Lip Kit. There are 8 colours in total and you can guess straight away which one I went for – yes the nude. I purchased Reign from Superdrug online.
It looks like a lip kit, feels like a lip kit – but is it any good? Well I put it to the test..
I had Reign on for 6 hours and I ate and drank in between. Overall, I think it perfomed pretty well – there was no transfer. I reapplied my lips once after eating, but I did not need much product because hardly any had come off.
I describe Reign as my perfect nude – and it sure is. A blush nude colour which compliments my skin tone so well. I love it so much!
I’m going to kick this off straight away and say that I love the lip liner formula so much. When I first applied it, I had already convinced myself that if I didn’t like the actual matte liquid lipstick, then it didn’t matter because the lip liner itself is more than worth £6. It is so creamy, can be worn alone, over gloss and blends in like a dream. It is JUST like the Kylie lip liner and also a lot like the Huda Beauty Lip Contour.
The matte liquid lipstick is quite sticky. It feels more like a lip cream if I’m honest. It reminds me a lot of the NYX matte lip cream formula but the sticky version. It felt very moisturising on and it also reminscent of the Huda Beauty Liquid matte formula. If it wasn’t sticky then I would have loved it so much, but I am not complaining for £6 because it’s still an amazing dupe. If you don’t want to fork out money for a real Kylie Lip Kit, then this is your next best alternative.
I love the texture of the lip liner in this kit – I will probably go out and buy all ther other nude shades just fot the lip liner! The matte liquid lipstick – not so much. I kept finding myself piercing my lips together – but after a few hours, I was use to the texture
I would recommend these dupes in a heartbeat. If you are picky about stickiness then this probably isn’t for you – HOWEVER… for £6 I would purchase the kit for the lip liners alone. I just hope they sell these as singles soon because I will buy every colour!
Now, I know I mentioned about the stickiness – and if you can live wih it, then buy this lip kit. If you are a fuss pot, then try applying some Lipcoate over it so that it removes the tacky feeling.
Hats off to Makeup Revolution for another great dupe – I am excited to see what else they have coming up in the pipeline!
*Edit. Since writing this post, I also purchased the shade ‘Grandee’ and I LOVE it! It’s the perfect Pink shade for my skin tone and I found the formula to be more matte than the shade ‘Reign’ .
