Contour and Highlight with Urban Decay

Contouring is still hot right now. My favourite brand Urban Decay have a whole host of new contour and highlight products to see you through the seasons. A few very exciting releases and some classics.

I love Urban Decay because they break the barriers of ‘normal’ and allow for all types of experiments in terms of looks, colours and packaging. They are the go to brand for pro Makeup Artists and boast an attractive range products.

Naked Skin Shape Shifter (Light/Medium)

I am very excited about this palette! One thing that bothers me about most contour kits, is that you can only buy them as a cream or powder palette. Never together, which can be a pain. The new Shape Shifter Palette has both! Yes both! This is fantastic because it saves a lot of money when you have it all in one. There are two sides to this palette, so you literally flip it over to reveal the first side which is powder, then the other which is cream. It’s a clever little box with all your contour needs in one. Each pan contains 5 shades.

This contour palette is totally fuss free, the double sided mirror separates the two finishes apart and this means fuss free contouring! I love how sleek and slim the packaging is too – it’s perfect for a professional makeup kit, travelling, or even to keep in your handbag.

It boasts an attractive dimensional contoured effect and I’m kinda in love with it! You can use the contour powders alone for a more subtle look, or you can layer the cream contour and then sharpen it with the powder – either way, both finishes work well against my skin tone and I was quite pleased with the result.

Afterglow Highlighter Palette

Okay, let’s just take  minute to appreciate this gorgeous iridescent case. Look at the rainbow colours when it catches the light! Isn’t it so mesmerising! After contour, comes the highlight! What perfect way to add a shiny gleam. Afterglow comes with four delectable shades and can be built on for more glow. The colours apply quite sheer, but once you build them up, they reveal a chrome effect finish. There’s light diffusing pigments in the powder which are long lasting and create the perfect glow.

There are four shades in this palette :

  • Bliss (Champagne Gold)
  • Peroxide (Iridescent Pink)
  • NSFW (Peach Pink)
  • Side Piece (Gold Peach)

The colours are soft yet effective, iridescent but shimmery. All of these shades compliment my skin tone perfectly and I’ve been using these highlighters for a light daytime glow. Peroxide is probably my favourite!

Naked Skin Highlighting Fluid

If you want to intensify your glow, the new highlighting fluids are just amazing! They’re not too in your face, but they compliment the powders nicely and add an extra sheen on top to reveal a new layered highlight. This highlight doesn’t sit on top of the skin though, it sinks in to work with your natural canvas. It also blurs any flaws and you could just use it alone with BB cream or moisturiser. The doe foot applicator makes it so quick and easy to use, you only need a small amount really to give the desired effect.

The shades pictures as follows:

  • Skywalk
  • Aura
  • Luminous

You can see from the swatches how lightweight and luminous the shades look and they really do blur away imperfections too! This will work on all skin tones, all ages and will leave a strobe effect on all the high points of the face. This is ideal for cheekbone, browbone AND… lip highlight! Urban Decay have used the same base formula as their Naked Skin Concealers, so expect pretty much the same from these, but in liquid highlight form. They also contain a beauty favourite – Vitamin E, so it conditions and protects!

So many fantastic launches out at the moment from this brand! Which one are you most excited about?
