I’m talking all things Benefit today. I love using their cheek products and the Roller Lash has always been a staple of mine, so I was very excited to be trying out the ‘They’re Real‘ range.
The packaging is always an eye catcher for me, let’s face it, who doesn’t like aesthetically pleasing makeup?
I’ve created a quick and easy makeup look using all the products from the Benefit They’re Real range, but first I want to talk you through the products and tell you how they performed on me.
This is an eyeshadow duo that sweeps across the lids in one go to unveil colour all over. I have never used anything like this before, but it peaked my interest because I am all for time saving when doing my makeup. I am the definition of a lazy girl in the weekdays, and so this duo seems perfect for me. It comes with a rounded sponge applicator which picks up both colours in one sweep.
You can see below the sponge picks up the colour quite nicely separating both the colours. This is also evident when applied to the lid, but very easy to blend out.
I was a little sceptical about how it might perform colour pay off wise and you can see right here how it appears as a swatch on my arm using both the sponge and my finger:
When I applied this to my lid, there was no fall out and the colour from the brush to my lid transferred well and blended in nicely. There was no separation in colour either and both shades blended in really well. Overall the rounded brush performed well, apart from a few minor incidents with my butter fingers where the sponge kept slipping out of my hand. This is probably due to the fact that I have long nails. There was no visible creasing either which is always great and the eyeshadow lasted on me all day long. I’m quite impressed with this little duo and the shades are so natural they give a lovely barely there look.
Described as the ‘lash hugging’ gel liner, I was interested to see how this performed. I am a huge fan of gel liners because they last so much longer, and the one thing we all struggle with is getting winged liner as close to the lash line as possible. The Push-up liner uses special Accuflex technology which helps to ‘hug’ the product as close to lash line as possible.
The pointed tip allows for precise applicaton and give you wings as sharp and thick as you want!
The top tip help you to draw an easy straight line whilst the bottom half of the applicator gives a smooth finish.
Twist the base once to reveal the gel liner as below. You can see the formula is quite thick and creamy in consistency but this works well to give a dark black finish and sets matte.
I wanted to test the liner in diffrent thicknesses and finishes to see how the overlook turned out. You can see below from the 5 swatches I managed a precision line quite thick, quite fine, razor sharp and also quite wide. It’s all about how you manouvre your hand really and if you aren’t a pro, I really wouldn’t worry, because the tip will guide you well.
I had the liner on all day and there was no noticeable creasing and it did stay on without fading. If you are short on time, this is very quick and easy to use. Make sure you only twist the bottom once though otherwise you will have too much product on!
I really liked the way this liner applied to my lids and it gave me a pretty sharp wing. In the look I created below I did quite a thick wing and I really liked how the sharp tip cleaned up my liner to reveal a clear sharp line. If you do twist this more than once, it can be quite messy, so I would advise to twist the liner once as I did and you will be prety impressed!
I think this is a clever liner and the formula dried quite quickly leaving no marks behind.
I’ve never used a mascara primer before, and this one actually tints the lashes and creates the base definition for them before applying the mascara. It is a mink coloured brown primer which essentially separates the lashes nicely allowing for ease of application with the They’re Real mascara. I found this primer gave my lashes a booster prior to mascara application and I really liked how it feathered out my lashes. I could probably have gotten away with wearing this without any mascara too – it did a great job!
This mascara is designed to be used in conjunction with the primer and this set comes with a full size mascara as well as a travel size which is just perfect for a weekend away or your portable makeup bag. This mascara really worked well on my lashes ensuring maximum curl. It lifted and separated my lashes quite distinctively too and I was pleased with the volumising effect it left me with. The colour I have is Jet Black and it compliments my lashes perfectly since they are dark, plus I like to have the illusion of darker lashes as it makes my makeup stand out more. There was no flaking or crumbling as such throughout the day and my lashes remained curled the entire day. I like the formula of this, lashings of mascara that curl and length equals a very happy me! I did use the mascara on top of the primer, but in all honesty, becasue my lashes are already quite long, the primer was more than sufficient.
Ok, so a 2 in 1 product is always a life saver right? Why did I not know about this sooner! One product that has an in built lip liner and lipstick? I will not say no to this. In just one stroke you can have full lips and loads of colour. I really like the applicator, it is easy to use and the colour does not settle into the lines at all. I have ‘Lusty Rose‘ which is mix between Pink and Red and although my terrible swatch does not show it, there are in fact two colours. I tried so hard to get a decent picture and although it really showed up in real life, the camera just wouldn’t pick it up. A little annoying, but these are the joys of photography. The teardrop tip is perfect for contouring the shape of the lip and it really defined my lip. The formula dries down to a semi matte, but it still left my lips moisturised all day long.
I loved the fuller, plumper illusion this lipstick gave me and it left my lips feeling moisturised all day. As soon as I applied the colour, I noticed how full my lips looked straight away and it was pretty amazing. The fact that the lip liner is in built into the lipstick, it contoured my pout to perfection!
Here’s the final look I created using all the products:
Of course no look is complete without lashes, so although I did use the lash primer and mascara, I couldn’t resist my falsies!
