Primark is a thing of beauty these days. I mean, have you seen all the bargains I’ve been picking up lately? My fellow friend Fashionicide raved about these new Oud’s that had made their way into stores and I desperately searched everywhere with no luck. It wasn’t until the other week I was attending an event in London that I spotted these fragrances at the flagship store. Might I add there was only one of each left? So, there was little old me fighting with some middle aged man for the last bottles. Yes, this is a true story and no I’m not exaggerating. I even thought at one point he was going to take it out of my basket so I had to keep a very close eye!
I picked up 2 of the full sized bottles:
- Rose Oud, 100ml, Eau de Parfum
- Mandarin & Basil, 100ml, Eau de Parfum
As well as the set with all the miniature fragrance collection which was only £8.
I really badly wanted to buy the full size Jasmine & Honey, because they had testers, and I was spraying like a mad person testing all of them and this particular one literally smelt like heaven on earth! I could even smell it the next day. I need to go back for it.
I don’t usually tend to buy budget perfumes, because I’ll be totally honest with you, I am a snob when it comes to perfume and prefer my high end scents, but I was really drawn to these.
They are housed in beautiful glass bottles which resemble the shape and style of the infamous Jo Malone bottles – and although they can be classed as dupes, do they live up to it?
I have a Jo Malone scent to compare it to. The one I have is called Peony & Blush Suede and although it is not an oud, I can already tell the difference. It smells gorgeously luxurious and sweet. When I compare this to Mandarin & Basil for example, there is still a lingering but sweeter smell which in comparison is much lighter. Jo Malone smells richer and heavier. I think these are both in a league of their own and if you don’t want to splash out loads, then the Primark version is a great alternative.
I really feel the whole stigma of shopping at Primark has vanished now since they’ve upped their game and manage to keep on top of all the latest beauty trends.
If you manage to find at least one of these fragrances it’s worth checking out because they do smell rather delicious.
