2018 is the year for discovering new brands and I’m excited to share a new cosmetic brand with you called Wonderland Makeup. This is a cruelty free brand who is new to the scene. They offer high end makeup without compromising on the cost and have a simple approach to their packaging – focusing more on the quality of the product.
Wonderland Makeup is a British company, and I’m all for supporting home grown artists. I have a few items from their range to talk to you about.
Studio Finish Primer
The Studio Finish Primer retails for £15 and it does all the basics that a primer should do. It primes, mattifies and blurs the skin allowing the smoothest canvas for makeup application. It’s designed for oily skin, and it’s perfect for me because I suffer with oily skin badly. This didn’t cause me any major oily breakout and I only needed to touch up twice (pat down) which is perfectly normal for me. This primer reminded me of the Smashbox primer as well as Benefit Porefessional. It has a similar texture and finish to it.
The Rougir Blush colour is conventionally quite a lot darker than I would like to use on myself, therefore I used it as a contour shade instead and found it worked better. I built the colour up to contour and I even used it to contour my eyelid. I found the formula incredibly pigmented and there was little to none fallout. The texture and finish I would describe as overall quite silky and the colour blended it quite well without being too harsh.
Black eyeshadow is pretty much a staple for me when doing my makeup. I use it to line my upper and lower lash line as well as using the colour to create a smoked out look under the eye. I have to say, I was very impressed with the colour payoff and you can see from the swatches below just how intense the colour is. It gives off quite an even finish and the texture is smooth. You can see below there is no chalkiness to the colour either.
Wonderland makeup is budget friendly and it’s perfect for Makeup Artists to use in their kits. I really feel that the quality is comparable to high end brands and I like the fact that they have kept the packaging simple and focused on the actual product, because for me, the product and formula is more important. Don’t get me wrong, I love pretty packaging, but with items like these, that I’ll use on a daily basis, they will get bashed around in my makeup bag.
