I have been loving a lot of the new Maybelline releases recently and when the new Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks launched last year, I just knew I had to get my hands on them! There was two colours in particular which really wowed me. I chose Loyalist and Dreamer because I love my nudes and I am obsessed with Pinks.
These are described as an intense colour concentration for the lips and they have a matte finish which claims to last 12 hours. The colours are great to make a statement with and I can’t wait to share my surprising thoughts with you.
- Loyalist – Muted Nude
- Dreamer – Baby Pink
When I first wore this, I was really taken aback by how fuller and plumper this made my lips look! This was down to the precise arrow applicator which I just LOVE because it covers all the contours of my lips with an even colour and it makes my lips look incredible. It’s pretty weightless and in just one application, the colour totally covers my lips. I do always like to go in with two strokes though as I love that colour intensity on my lips.
The only thing that bothers me is that I find the formula sticky and I really don’t like this about lipstick formulas. I love the colours, the intensity and longevity (it stays on ALL day) I just wish it wasn’t as sticky. This can be seen as a good thing for some people, because it’s not totally matte. It’s more of a moisturising matte liquid lipstick. If you like to mix your colours and do mix this with say another formula, you will not notice the stickiness as much.
The second thing to note is that the colour literally does not come off! When I say I have to scrub, I really have to scrub it off. I even tried exfoliating it off with my Lush Lip Scrub and it still left traces of colour. An oil based makeup remover will probably be best – but I guess at least it stays on!
When I weigh up the pros against the cons, there are definitely more pros, and considering this is a drugstore formula at only £9.99, it’s not bad at all if you can live with the stickiness.
Have you tried any colours from this range before?
