Liquid lipsticks are a staple for many of us in our daily makeup routine. I know it is mine, and I love trying out new formulas from brands. Today I have four shades from Anastasia Beverly Hills to talk to you about, and it’s safe to say I am converted! Having previously used (and still re-purchasing) my beloved Brow Wiz, Dip Brow and Contour Kit, I can now add liquid lipsticks to the list.
- American Doll (Classic Retro Red)
- Sarafine (Deep Blue Red)
- Dusty Rose (Nude Mauve)
- Crush (Soft Beige – Lighter Dusty Rose)
Each one costs £20 and you get 4.5ml of product per tube. This is pretty much a standard size for most liquid lipsticks, so you’ll never run short!
The Anastasia Beverly Hills formula promises to offer an intense pigment alongside a matte finish. It has an easy to apply liquid formula and lasts all day. These are the claims, and did it live up to them? Read on to find out!
You can choose from over 30 shades in the range – there’s one for to suit every mood and occasion quite literally, and you’re easily spoilt for choice.
The formula feels very lightweight and comfortable when on and it really is long lasting. I didn’t feel the need to touch up at all and when I got home at the end of a very long day – the colour had stayed put.
The doefoot applicator applies nicely and evenly and dries down to a totally matte finish. Now traditionally, liquid lipsticks are always matte, and this formula is drier than a lot of others I’ve used. I don’t really mind this, it just means I need to make sure I properly exfoliate and moisturise my lips before hand. I actually think the drier formula makes the colour stay on longer and it really makes the colour stand out.
Really, one layer is substantial for an all over long lasting colour and you won’t need to touch up, especially if you’ve opted for a bright shade like me. I wouldn’t recommend anymore than two layers, because the formula is quite dry and it will show cracks if you go over it anymore.
I also really like the fact that you can create your own custom colours with these liquid lipsticks simply by mixing the colours! This is a great idea especially if you love to experiment.
I personally don’t think you need to line your lips before using this formula – it really is a personal preference. My lips are naturally quite full, I simply applied the colour directly to my lips without any product underneath.
I will definitely be expanding my collection because I simply love how they look and feel. This is a brand I have championed since they launched in the UK and long may my obsession continue.
