Last week I had afternoon tea at the picturesque Pennyhill Park which is situated in Surrey (this is in the UK for my international readers) It was my best friends birthday and we wanted to do something a little different and indulge in some sweet treats. The reason we picked this location because it’s beautiful and very local to us. Also because the views are just amazing.
We opted for the Traditional Ascot Afternoon Tea which is priced at £40 per person and includes the following:
- Freshly cut sandwiches
- Assorted pastries Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve
- Selection of different teas and coffee
I am not a tea or coffee drinker, and opted for a hot chocolate which cost extra at around £2.95.
Our tea was booked for 1.30pm and we were there for a duration of approximately 2 hours which was more than enough time to enjoy the tea.
The sandwhiches included a selection of salmon, egg and cress as well as cheese and pickle. For the meat option my friends had chicken and bacon. The sandwhiches were refillable once and this was more enough to fill our stomachs!
I went to this tea on an empty stomach and I’m glad I did, because I polished off my entire plate.
Onto The Sweet Stuff…
I really enjoyed the variety of pasties and cakes they had to offer. The showstopper for me was the opera cake. It had layers of chocolate and a fruit filling. All I can say is, I enjoyed every bite very slowly to take in all the flavours.
The pistachio macaroons were delicious and they had the same flavour coating too on the outside which was a dipped on half the macaroon.
The fruit tart was topped with pink creamy mousse and there was even edible flowers on the top for decoration.
Lastly there was a chocolate hazelnut meringue which was topped with a swirl of sweet mousse cream and an apple along with a chocolate stick. It may not have been the most colourful item on the plate, but it was my second favourite after the opera cake.
This post would not be complete without my makeup look. This is the look I was sporting on the day. I kept my makeup quite fresh and glowing (as always) If you head over to my Instagram page, you can view the breakdown of products I used.
I hope you enjoyed my afternoon tea post. Let me know below if you’d like to see more food on the blog.
